Senior Buyer Since 2016
Gord, Senior Buyer
I’ve been in the BC craft scene since I was a teenager in the late 80s – Kootenay greenhouses, hash runs, the whole grey-market history. I buy the flower for this place, and I’ve been doing it since day one of the store. Every strain on this site crossed my desk – and my grinder – before it crossed yours. I don’t write reviews to sound smart. I write them so you don’t waste your money.
How I pick
Nothing goes live until I’ve burned a sample of the actual batch. Not the grower’s sample – ours.
THC percentage is the volume knob. Terps are the song. The profile tells you how a strain actually smokes – the number just tells you how loud it gets.
Slightly quieter flower that’s fresh beats a stale 30%er every day of the week. Ask me how I know.
The rules I buy by
Terpenes over THC. Always.
Freshness beats potency.
Indica and sativa labels are mostly marketing – read the composition and the terps.
Above a floor, price and quality are unrelated. Some of the best flower I’ve had was mid-shelf.
There is no best strain. There’s best for you, tonight.
Why no last name?
Legal reasons, mostly. Also: my mailbox already works. Folks in this industry use handles – I’ve had mine since before this store had a website. If you’ve got a strain question, the review pages are where I answer. That’s enough me for anybody.
Strains I’ve reviewed
Gorilla GlueThe parking-lot legend, all grown up
Vanilla FrostingFor people who think they don't like the taste of weed
Hi-OctaneThe bedtime strain with a gas-station name
White Fire OGThe daytime OG that won\u2019t erase you
Grape SodaAn OG that learned to have fun
Wedding CakeThe workhorse with the fancy name
Granddaddy PurpleThe 9pm strain your legs agree with
Grape ApeActual grape. Then a nap.
