The story of Zkittlez

Zkittlez - named after the candy, spelled with a Z and widely known by its Skittles alias - is the strain that launched the entire fruit-candy era of cannabis breeding. A California creation commonly credited to a Grape Ape x Grapefruit cross, it won Best Indica at the 2015 and 2016 Emerald Cup Cups and quietly rewrote what fruity cannabis could taste like. Its descendants (Runtz, the whole candy-Runtz lane) dominate modern menus, but the original remains the reference point.

Growing Zkittlez

An 8 to 9 week flower with compact indica structure and dense, colourful buds - greens, purples and deep orange hairs. It is a forgiving grow with moderate yields, but the cure matters: Zkittlez's candy profile only develops fully after a long, slow dry and cure.

How to consume Zkittlez

Gentler than its indica classification implies: a couple of puffs set a mellow, happy mood with a light body settle. Vaping low brings out the fruit. Works for afternoons and early evenings - heavy sessions will still put you down, but moderate doses keep you pleasant and present.

Zkittlez vs similar strains

Its most famous descendant is the Runtz lane - Rainbow Runtz and Gruntz all carry Zkittlez fruit DNA with extra potency. Against its suspected parent Grape Ape, Zkittlez is brighter and less sedating. For a candy profile with more diesel, RS11 is the modern crossover.
