What is a CBD tincture?
A tincture is a liquid CBD extract in a dropper bottle, taken under the tongue (hold 30 to 60 seconds, then swallow). It is the flexible CBD format: drop counts let you fine-tune a serving in a way no gummy or capsule can. Tinctures differ from oils only in carrier and phrasing; the format works the same.
Ratios: isolate, 4:1, and 1:1
The ratio on the label is the most important line. A CBD-only tincture (1000mg CBD) carries no THC. A 4:1 carries one part THC to four parts CBD: the gentle middle ground. A 1:1 is an even split with a clear THC effect, a different product category in practice. Pick the ratio first, then the strength within it.
How to dose a tincture
Start with the label's serving (a drop count per millilitre, matched to the bottle's total milligrams). Take it under the tongue, wait the full onset window, and keep a note for a few days: tincture dosing is the easiest CBD format to adjust, so use that flexibility. One change at a time.
How long do tinctures take to work?
Sublingual tinctures typically land in 15 to 45 minutes and last several hours - faster than edibles, slower than vaping. The under-the-tongue hold matters: swallowing immediately sends the dose through digestion and delays onset by an hour or more.
