What are budder and wax?
Budder and wax are solvent extracts like shatter, but whipped or agitated during purging, which gives them a soft, creamy or crumbly texture instead of a glassy sheet. That texture is the whole appeal: they are easier to scoop, load and portion than brittle shatter, especially with a dab tool.
Nothing about the whipping adds potency; it changes handling, not strength. Like shatter, they carry little flavour compared with live resin, which keeps the plant terpenes by processing fresh-frozen material as little as possible.
How to use budder and wax
- Dab rig: scoop a rice-grain-sized piece onto a hot nail or banger and inhale the vapour.
- Dab pen: load the chamber; the soft texture makes it the easiest concentrate to work with in a pen.
- Bowl or joint topper: crumble a little over flower before you light it.
Dosing: start with a piece the size of a grain of rice and wait 5 to 10 minutes before judging. The creamy texture makes it easy to take too much, so scoop small.
How to store budder and wax
Keep it in a sealed silicone jar or parchment in a cool, dark place. Heat softens it further and light degrades terpenes. A fridge works for longer storage if the container stays airtight and comes to room temperature before opening.
