We’re going to cover everything you need to know about THC syrup to get you up to speed. We’ve got recipes for using THC syrup to make your own beverages and even instructions for how to make your own THC syrup at home with high-quality cannabis flowers.
Let’s see what everyone’s been talking about when it comes to THC syrup.
Is THC Syrup Safe to Use?
THC syrup is safe and you can buy THC syrup Canada online for delivery to your location.
THC syrup is very safe to use. To date, there have been no known fatal overdoses from THC or other cannabis products. In fact, medical researchers are studying the potential benefits of THC specifically because it is less dangerous than opioid medications.
However, you can take more THC syrup than you’re comfortable with. This is why you should always go low and slow when it comes to dosing THC syrup. This is especially true if you’re new to enjoying THC edibles and syrups.
What is THC Syrup?
You might be asking “What is THC syrup?” One way to think about THC syrup is that it is basically just a new spin on the classic edible. This is simply THC that has been infused into a simple sugar syrup.
There are a variety of THC syrup brands, but you can also make THC syrup at home using a high-quality THC extract or oil.
You take THC syrup just like any other edible. You can eat, or in this case drink, it straight up or mix it with other drinks, foods, or snacks. One of the biggest benefits of THC oil is that it is very flexible when it comes to how you enjoy it.
What is THC Syrup Good For?
THC syrup is very flexible and there’s a lot that it’s good for you. This is one of the reasons why THC syrup is becoming more popular on the market.
THC syrup is an edible and that’s a great choice for people who want to enjoy the benefits of THC and cannabis, but who also aren’t interested in smoking. This can also be a good alternative for individuals with asthma or other conditions that make smoking and vaping riskier.
THC syrup is also a great choice for people who are looking to get a medicinal benefit from THC. Like with most edibles, it’s very easy to control the dosing of THC syrup. This means that individuals who need a specific dose to get a medicinal benefit can easily get that amount of THC without going over or under.
Speaking of getting an accurate dose, THC syrup is also a great choice for people who are new to cannabis products. Edibles often have a much more subtle hit than smokable cannabis. It’s all so much easier to microdose or take smaller doses if you’re new to THC and you don’t want to go too hard too fast.
THC syrup is also great for being creative with your cannabis enjoyment. You don’t just have to drink the THC syrup as is, you can mix it with anything from your morning latte to using it to make ice cream.
How is THC Syrup Made?
There is a lot of technical know-how that goes into making THC syrup, we’re going to give you a quick rundown of how it’s made behind the scenes.
All THC syrup starts with making a great THC extract. This can be hash oil, THC oil, or any type of THC extract.
The THC extract is then added to a mixture of vegetable glycerin, additional oils, like coconut for the body, and some type of sweetener. The sweeteners in a THC syrup can be cane sugar, artificial sweeteners, or just about anything to give it a better flavor.
The resulting THC syrup acts faster than a traditional edible because of its liquid state. It’s also great for adding or mixing into other drinks or edibles.
Is THC Syrup the Same as THC Lean?
THC-infused syrup is not always the same as THC Lean. We need to slow things down and pick this one apart piece by piece.
THC syrup is always a simple sugar syrup infused with THC. These can be flavored, but THC will be the only psychoactive compound in the mix.
Lean is an illegal drug made by mixing prescription cough syrup with soda. Lean can be very dangerous as it is hard to accurately dose and is often misused.
THC Lean can be either THC syrup mixed with Lean or just another name for THC syrup itself. There are even brands of THC syrup that draw from Lean’s unique look and style for their marketing.
Always make sure you are buying your THC syrup from a reliable online vendor to make sure you’re getting pure THC without any of the potentially hazardous other substances.
Can You Substitute Lean as an Alternative to THC Syrup and Vice Versa?
There are a lot of people that mistakenly believe that THC syrup and lean are the same thing. However, these are actually two completely different products.
In fact, THC syrup can be seen as a more positive alternative to lean. Both of these beverages have strong roots in Southern and Hip-Hop culture. However, Lean contains harmful opioids that could be very dangerous when misused.
THC syrup is a great alternative to clean. It can be used in many similar ways as Lean, but it has much lower risks and less chance of potentially dangerous side effects.
THC Syrup Benefits and Drawbacks
Now we’re going to look at the benefits and drawbacks of THC syrup. It’s important to know both the pros and the cons of this specific type of edible beverage.
- Easy to dose
- Great for making edibles and cannabis beverages
- Great, neutral taste
- Easy to make at home with either cannabis flower or THC extracts
- Sweet taste is not for everyone
- Other alternatives might be better for individuals worried about the extra sugar
- THC syrup does contain more processed ingredients than cannabis flower or extracts alone
- Edibles, even beverages, can take longer to hit than other types of THC
How Do You Take THC Syrup?
You’ve got plenty of options when it comes to how you can take THC syrup. These are a few of the most popular.
Did you know that you can take THC syrup sublingually just like you can CBD Oil or THC oil? Here’s how you can take THC syrup sublingually.
- Use a dropper to measure out the exact amount of THC syrup you want
- Carefully use the dropper to drop the THC syrup underneath the base of your tongue
- Hold the THC syrup in place for up to 20 seconds and then swallow
Taking It as a Shot
Probably the easiest way to enjoy THC syrup is just to take it like a shot of alcohol.
All you need to do is measure out the amount of THC syrup you want to take, place it into a shot glass or a small cup, and down it all in a single gulp.
This is great if you’re looking to get the maximum effect of THC syrup as quickly as possible. However, THC syrup tends to have a viscosity or mouthfeel that’s similar to maple syrup which makes taking it as a shot difficult for some.
Oral Intake in Drinks
One of the best ways to enjoy TLC syrup is simply to mix it into your favorite drinks.
All you need to do is measure out the amount of THC syrup that you want to try and then stir that into the drink of your choice. The syrup goes great with sparkling water, tea, or coffee, and can even be a great addition to a smoothie.
Adding THC to a beverage will slow down the rate at which your body absorbs THC. If, for example, you add 10 mg of THC to a beverage that you’ll be drinking over the course of the next 30 minutes, you’ll have a much more relaxed experience than someone who took all 10 mg in one sip.
Adding THC to a beverage can be a great way to have a more gentle THC high.
Consuming With Homemade Recipes
THC syrup has a very clever design when it comes to an edible. It’s got a neutral flavor that’s just slightly sweet which is a great choice for people who are looking to do their own homemade edible cooking.
You can do anything with THC syrup that you could also do with your basic simple sugar syrup. This means that you can use it to flavor ice cream, use it for making chocolate sauce, or even use this in recipes for edible gummies.
All you need to do is make a slight adjustment to an existing recipe in order to incorporate THC syrup. Since THC syrup is a liquid, you want to remove the same amount of liquid elsewhere in the recipe when you’re using THC syrup.
You should also dial back the sweetness just a little bit because THC syrup is going to bring some of its own sweetness to your recipes.
THC syrup is for more than just dessert. Barbecue sauce, breakfast, and other recipes where a little sweetness goes a long way can be a great way to use your THC syrup.
Can You Make THC Syrup at Home?

Ready to make your own cannabis syrups? We’ve got a THC syrup recipe that you can try at home today!
How to Make Homemade THC Syrup
Want to learn how to make THC syrup at home? You can follow this basic recipe to make a THC simple syrup that you can enjoy as is or add to your favorite recipes!
Let’s get started with our ingredients.
Here’s everything you’re going to need to make a basic THC syrup.
- 3 cups water
- 2 grams ground cannabis flower (or 1 gram THC extract)
- 2 TBSP vegetable glycerin
- 3 cups sugar
Now that you have all of your ingredients ready, let’s go over what you need to do in order to make a THC syrup at home.
Decarb Your Cannabis Flower
The first thing you need to do is decarboxylated your cannabis flower. You do not need to do this step if you are making your THC syrup with a THC extract or concentrate. This only applies to cannabis flowers.
The THC that’s in cannabis flower is actually another compound known as THCA. This does not have the same psychoactive properties as THC, but we can fix that.
Decarboxylation is the process of using heat to change THCA into THC. This is done instantly when you’re smoking a joint, but we need to do a little bit more work when we’re making edibles.
Preheat your oven to 220 degrees Fahrenheit.
Finely grind your two grams of cannabis flower and spread them onto a baking sheet that’s been lined with a piece of parchment paper.
Lightly toast your ground cannabis for around 20 minutes. It should have that familiar cannabis odor and have a lightly toasted color. If you start to smell any burning or the cannabis starts to turn dark, pull it out of the oven as this is a sign that it has baked too long.
Bring the Water to a Boil and Add Sugars
Combine the three cups of water and the three cups of sugar in a saucepan and bring this to a boil over medium-high heat.
Once the water and sugar mixture begins to boil, turn the heat down to low and begin stirring. It’s now time to add our other ingredients.
Add the Cannabis and Vegetable Glycerin
Now you want to add in the 2 grams of toasted and decarboxylated cannabis flower and the 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin.
You want to make sure that all of these ingredients are evenly spread out and that there are no clumps of dry cannabis flower in the mix. Give everything a good start to make sure it’s equally spread out.
Stir, Filter, and Enjoy
Now we’re ready to go to the finish line.
Keep your mixture on low heat and stir for 20 minutes. Make sure to keep stirring otherwise you could wind up burning cannabis that settles to the bottom of the saucepan.
After about 20 minutes, all of the sugars will be equally dissolved and you’ll have your basic simple syrup.
If you made this using a cannabis extract or a THC concentrate, all you need to do is pour it into a bottle for storage and you’re good to go.
If you made this using cannabis flower, you need to filter out the plant material before you can store your homemade THC syrup. The easiest way to filter out the plant material would be to use a fine-mesh strainer, but you could use a spaghetti strainer and a clean t-shirt if you’re in a pinch—just make sure there’s a bowl underneath the strainer to catch your THC syrup!
It’s best to store your homemade THC syrup in the fridge so it lasts the longest.
